Katherine Ewing – Dina & Angie Testimonial:
Katherine Ewing has proudly banked with First Federal Savings for more than 20 years — a relationship that began with her husband, Bruce, who felt so strongly about their small, local bank. When Katherine’s baking business, Katherine’s, began to grow, choosing First Federal Savings for her business banking needs felt like a natural decision.
Over the years, Katherine says what has meant the most to her are the genuine relationships she has built with the team. She especially appreciates Dina and Angie, remembering when they were tellers when she first started banking with FFS. She describes it as amazing to have watched them grow professionally and become the face of the high touch service the bank provides its customers.
For Katherine, that growth represents more than longevity — it reflects trust, consistency, and expertise. She values knowing that whenever a question or challenge arises, Dina or Angie can step in and solve just about any problem she brings to them. For her, First Federal Savings isn’t just a place to bank — it’s a place where relationships are built, careers grow, and customers feel truly supported.
Katherine Ewing – Michael Walton testimonial:
Katherine Ewing has always believed in the strength of a close-knit community. Having spent many years as an educator in Bath — including a memorable two-year stretch around 1998 teaching a shared second-grade classroom with Mrs. Frey — she helped shape the lives of countless local children.
In 2024, Katherine experienced a moment that perfectly captured what makes First Federal Savings so special to her — and to the Bath community.
After parking outside the bank one day, she overheard a young man nearby say his name on the phone: “Michael Walton.” The name immediately felt familiar. While she doesn’t remember every student she taught, Michael was one she did — a bright young boy from that very first shared classroom. She paused, wondering if it could really be him. Could that small boy with bright red hair that she remembered from years ago, now be the man standing in front of her?
When he finished his call, she introduced herself. Not only was it him — he recognized her instantly. The two shared a big hug and began catching up on nearly 30 years of life. During their conversation, Katherine learned something that deeply moved her: Michael was now serving as President of First Federal Savings.
For Katherine, the moment was almost surreal. The little boy she once taught had grown up and was now leading the very hometown bank she has trusted and supported for decades. To her, it was the definition of “coming full circle.”
She often says this story is exactly what community banking is all about. First Federal Savings isn’t just located in Bath — it’s woven into the lives of the people who call Bath home. Katherine loves sharing the story with friends and with the team at the bank whenever she visits. For her, it’s a heartwarming reminder that First Federal Savings truly is a local institution in every sense of the word — built by the community, for the community, and led by people who grew up right here at home.
